Notes from Moon

In this novel, the term 精神 (which means the state of the mind or a spiritual state) is used to when referring to the powers of the Sentinels and Guides. After consulting a friend, I have decided to translate this term as “spiritual”. Therefore, all the Sentinels and Guides terms are translated as follows:

• 精神体 = “spiritual familiar” – 体 actually means body, form, entity or substance; however, I feel that spiritual body/form/entity/substance reads a little odd. I’ve decided to translate this as “spiritual familiar” instead as it’s a representation of the Sentinels and Guides in an animal form.
• 精神力 = “spiritual power/force/strength” – 力 means power, force or strength. All three the definitions for 力 have been used in this translation because this depends on the context in which the term is used.
• 精神图景 = “spiritual realm” – “图景” means view or prospect; however, in this novel, a 精神图景 is a realm that Sentinels and Guides can create, similar to a spiritual realm often seen in cultivation setting stories but with the additional that these spiritual places reflect the subconsciousness and dreams of the wielder.
